Orientation and Training

Orientation provides new volunteers with important information about:

  • Our hospitals: history & background, programs and services
  • The NHS Mission, Vision and Values
  • Hospital Policies and Procedures
  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Health and Safety including WHMIS, Emergency Codes and Fire Safety
  • Confidentiality and Privacy Legislation
  • Customer Service Standard, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
  • Volunteer Resources and Hospital Auxiliaries

Applicants accepted as Volunteers at the NHS will complete position-specific departmental training following orientation to ensure success in their positions.
