Through a wide range of programs and initiatives, we seek to make the experience of working or volunteering at our hospitals as good as it can be.
Workplace Initiatives
Linking areas such as Nursing, Allied Health Professionals, Quality and Education, and Organizational Development departments is key to engaging leaders and frontline staff in a wide range of initiatives and programs, such as:
Performance Excellence Program – Performance Excellence is an ongoing program designed to move the culture of the NHS for the purpose of becoming an employer and provider of choice. The goal of this program is to:
- Support the corporate goals and the achievement of mission critical corporate priorities and accreditation standards;
- Highlight a different success factor each year;
- Focus on the concepts of the Quality Framework, the Nursing Strategic Plan and Care Model and a Healthy Workplace;
- Emphasize the connection between healthy workplace (employee satisfaction, caring for staff), patient outcomes/safety (patient satisfaction), and the quality framework; and
- Explore and incorporate the concept of employee engagement at all levels in achieving mission critical priorities
Since its inception in the fall of 2003, the Program has been designed so that it is built around the NHS Success Factors:
- 2003 – 2004: Focus on those we serve
- 2004 – 2005: Bring out the best in each other
- 2006: Build strong and successful relationships
- 2007: Create a better way
- 2008: Use our resources wisely
