Complex Care

Complex care is a time-limited program for patients 18 years or older who require daily skilled assessments and additional hospital care. The goal of admission is to enhance the patient's health, functioning and quality of life and to meet specific goals to transition back into the community.

Niagara Health has 169 complex care beds across four sites.

All patients and families are encouraged to be active members of the healthcare team. The team includes physicians, nurses, social workers, case management, a clinical pharmacist and clinical dietitian. There are also programs for long-term ventilator care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, therapeutic recreation, spiritual/religious care and palliative care.
