Legacy of nursing

Posted Sep 27th, 2013

Graduates of the Greater Niagara General Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1963 gathered recently to mark their 50th anniversary with the unveiling of nursing artifacts and a memorabilia display.

Located in the main lobby of the Great Niagara General Site, the historical display celebrates the legacy of the nursing school and its significant contribution to healthcare in Niagara. Items include uniforms, graduate pins, text books, photos, yearbooks and medical equipment.

The GNGH School of nursing opened its doors in 1907 and over the next 67 years graduated more than 936 student nurses. These nurses went on to provide much needed care in a variety of roles for patients, clients and families across North America in a number of healthcare settings making a tremendous contribution to the nursing profession.

You are encouraged to visit this beautiful historical display the next time you are at the Greater Niagara General Site.
