Warm Welcome for New Family Physician in Port Colborne

Posted Dec 7th, 2009

Second Physician recruited to the City in past year

Today, Dr. Haibo Xu officially began his practice in the City of Port Colborne. He was warmly welcomed with a reception by the Niagara Health System, the City of Port Colborne, the Township of Wainfleet and staff from his office in Dunnville.

Dr. Xu will begin to see patients in his Family Practice this Wednesday at the Port Colborne Site of the Niagara Health System. This was a collaborative effort to bring Primary Health Care to Port Colborne to ensure that all residents of Port Colborne and Wainfleet will be rostered to a Family Physician.

“We are continuing to work extremely hard to better align our primary healthcare services, ensuring our residents have equal access to a broader range of healthcare,” stated Mayor Vance Badawey. “Along with having a new family physician, patients will have access to a Social Worker, Dietitian, Nurse Practitioner, amongst many additional healthcare services and because of his location at the hospital site, patients will be able to have x-rays done on site while seeing their family physician.”

“We are delighted to have Dr. Xu and his team joining us at Port Colborne Site,” said NHS President & CEO Debbie Sevenpifer. “It is exactly this kind of healthcare partnership we want to be involved in and see more of for the residents of Port Colborne and Wainfleet.”

Applications are available at both City Hall and at Dr. Xu’s clinic at Port Colborne Site for residents who do not have a family physician.
