Research Ethics Board
The Niagara Health System Research Ethics Board reviews all research proposals for studies conducted at the Niagara Health System to ensure they meet ethical guidelines for research involving humans and that they are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and legislation. The REB also provides advice on ethical, scientific and technical aspects of planning research projects.
The mandate of the Research Ethics Board is to safeguard the rights, safety and well being of all research participants.
The Niagara Health System Research Ethics Board is in compliance with the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Human (TCPS), and the International Conference on Harmonization: Good Clinical Practice guidelines for IRBs, as well as the Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) and the Therapeutic Products Directorate (Health Canada TPD).
