Judging of NHS Naked Piggy Challenge fundraiser for United Way to take place this week

  • Date of Issue: Monday, November 12, 2007

NIAGARA , ON - The United Way fall campaign at the Niagara Health System (NHS) is heating up this week, as the Naked Piggy Challenge enters its final few days. What started as a way for hospital departments to collect loose change in plastic piggy banks for the NHS's $80,000 United Way goal has turned into a competition to see which department can create the most awareness for the campaign and support for the United Way by decorating their pigs.

About 200 plastic pigs have been distributed across the NHS, and judges will be reviewing the decorated pigs this week and selecting a finalist from each site. At the large sites, it is estimated more than 40 pigs will be gathered in the cafeteria for judging at one time. Judges include NHS United Way Committee members and representatives from the three Niagara United Ways.

The judging schedule is as follows:

Wed., Nov. 14
- Greater Niagara General Site - 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 - cafeteria
- Douglas Memorial Hospital Site - 1 p.m. to 1:30 - cafeteria

Thurs., Nov. 15
