Greater Niagara General Site, St. Catharines General Site and Welland Site provide inpatient medical care for acutely-ill patients with 197 beds. Douglas Memorial Site has 6 short-stay acute beds. An inter-professional health team cares for these patients who are acutely ill, palliative and alternate level of care.

Most units offer a special designated room for the provision of therapies (physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech). Dedicated Case Managers / Discharge Planners and Social Workers assist in ensuring a care plan is in place.
