Urgent/Prompt Care Centre

Urgent or Prompt care is medical attention and treatment for people of all ages experiencing unexpected minor illnesses and injuries that are not life or limb threatening.

Niagara Health currently operates 3 Urgent/Prompt Care Centres – Ontario Street Site (note – name changed from Prompt Care to Urgent Care Sept. 28/09) in St. Catharines, Port Colborne Site and Douglas Memorial Site in Fort Erie.

Examples of types of illnesses and injuries cared for at an Urgent/Prompt Care Centre at the Ontario Street Site include...

  • Simple fractures, sprains, sports injuries
  • Cuts that may need stitches
  • Minor burns
  • Minor abdominal pain (nausea,vomiting, flu)
  • Ear, nose and throat problems
  • Coughs and colds
  • Eye problems
  • any injury that cannot be dealt with at the family doctor’s office with a scheduled appointment

The Ontario Street Site Urgent Care Centre is open 7 days a week year round, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Both Port Colborne Site and Douglas Memorial Site Urgent Care Centres are open 7 days a week year round, 24 hours a day.
