Niagara Healtth Engagement Network (NHEN)

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Patient Partner volunteer with the Niagara Health Engagement Network (NHEN). Patient Partners help to create meaningful improvements in quality, safety and the care experience by using their experiences and perspectives to work alongside staff and physicians on a variety of initiatives.

The NHEN is comprised of a diverse roster of individuals who are patients and families that have received care at Niagara Health or community members who want to be involved in local healthcare. Patient Partners can determine what, when and how they wish to participate based on their interests and knowledge.

Patient Partners can participate in as many or few opportunities as they like, and they can choose initiatives that match their interests, experiences and time commitment. Patient Partners will be invited to work alongside NH staff and physicians on committees, working groups, special projects, co-design and many other types of initiatives such as:

  • Committee advisories
  • Health literacy reviews
  • Quality improvement projects
  • Focus groups
  • Program evaluations
  • Partnerships for delivering education to patients
  • Co-designing models of care
  • Policy and procedure reviews
There are many different ways for Patient Partners to get involved, both virtually and in person. Examples include: conference calls, online surveys and polls, site visits and focus groups. They receive specialized training from Patient Partnerships and Relations and will provide feedback to enhance the quality of care and overall experience of those we serve.
