Niagara Health System is very thankful to receive a $520,000 donation from the 2014 Rankin Cancer Run.
“We are extremely grateful for the generous donation made by Niagara’s Rankin Cancer Run,” says Niagara Health System President Suzanne Johnston. “This event is a great example of the caring community we have in Niagara. We thank everyone involved in the run - the organizers, volunteers and participants. This donation means so much to our healthcare team and patients. It will go a long way to helping our team deliver great care and caring to our patients.”
This year’s Rankin Cancer Run in St. Catharines featured more than 12,000 participants and over 270 teams. In its nine years, the fundraiser has given $4,654,000 back to the Niagara community. All money raised from the event stays in Niagara.
Here is how the money being donated will be distributed across the Niagara Health System:
St. Catharines Hospital – Outpatient Oncology – $300,000
Greater Niagara General Site, Niagara Falls, Palliative Care – $50,000
Douglas Memorial Site, Fort Erie, Palliative Care – $50,000
Welland Site, Palliative Care – $50,000
Dr. Willard colorectal cancer research equipment, Welland hospital – $20,000
Port Colborne Site, Palliative Care – $40,000
Niagara-on-the-Lake Site – $10,000
