Niagara Health Auxiliaries, Foundation CEO recognized at awards

Niagara Health was well represented at the recent Philanthropy Awards hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Golden Horseshoe Chapter.

The Hospital Auxiliaries of Niagara Health and Roger Ali, President & CEO of OneFoundation for Niagara Health System, each received awards at the event, which was held on Thursday in Burlington.

Niagara Health’s Auxiliaries received the Outstanding Philanthropic Group Award, while Mr. Ali was honoured with the Chapter Achievement Award.

Niagara Health President Suzanne Johnston, who attended the event, congratulated the recipients.

“The Outstanding Philanthropic Group award is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our volunteer auxilians who have made so many contributions to healthcare in Niagara through the years,” says Dr. Johnston. “We couldn’t provide high-quality care without the support of our volunteer auxilians. And I was so delighted for Roger to be recognized. He is a trusted and respected leader and we’re very grateful he is leading our foundation and helping us build a Healthier Niagara.”

Also recognized at the event was Niagara company Walker Industries, which received the Outstanding Corporation Award.

“Walker Industries’ philanthropic spirit is evident across Niagara,” adds Dr. Johnston. “Their commitment to the community and giving back is inspiring. And we are extremely thankful for the many significant contributions they have made to Niagara Health over the years.”

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Golden Horseshoe Chapter advances philanthropy through ongoing and meaningful educational opportunities. The Philanthropy Awards ceremony is held each year to celebrate National Philanthropy Day, which is Nov. 15.

“The Philanthropy Awards were not only a celebration of outstanding philanthropists and volunteers from the region who gave their time, talent and treasure to support great causes; it was a celebration of everyone,” says Roger Ali, President & CEO of OneFoundation. “I want to offer my sincere congratulations to Niagara Health’s Auxiliaries and Walker Industries – you have truly impacted Niagara healthcare.”
