Intensive Care

Our Intensive Care Units are located at the Greater Niagara General Site, the new St. Catharines Site and the Welland Site.

The ICUs in Niagara are designated based on level of acuity – Level 3 being the most intensive care (located at the new St. Catharines Site), Level 2 being similar to the life-supporting measures traditionally provided at large community hospitals (Greater Niagara General and Welland sites), and Level 1 for less intensive care (located at all three sites).

Patients requiring a higher level of care are cared for in our ICUs, including patients requiring cardiac, respiratory (both invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support), general medical, surgical, psychiatric and obstetrical care.

An interdisciplinary approach to care is practiced in our ICUs to provide high quality patient-centered care to our patients.
