South Niagara Hospital

Building the future of care

This past year was full of significant achievements and project milestones for the South Niagara Hospital, highlighted by the beam signing ceremony in February 2026. More than 1,000 signatures were added to the beam in advance of the event by construction workers and Niagara Health team members before it was raised to the highest point of the building. We were honoured to be joined at the ceremony by Premier Doug Ford, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones, and Acting Minister of Infrastructure Todd McCarthy.

A topping-off celebration read about the final structural concrete pour at the South Niagara Hospital, opens in new tab recognized the final structural concrete pour and celebrated the 900+ workers present on-site daily who are building our extraordinary hospital.

With the design complete, some of the project team is now overseeing the on-site construction. With less than two years left in construction, anticipation and excitement are really beginning to build for this transformational new hospital. The state-of-the-art features are not only going to support healing, reduce wait times and help improve the patient experience, but will also provide a healthier, more supportive workplace for our staff, physicians and volunteers.

Digital Transformation

Niagara Health continues to advance its digital transformation journey, building on the implementation of a new Hospital Information System (HIS) webpage, opens in new tab and extending its impact across the organization throughout 2025.

The HIS upgrade marked a significant step forward in modernizing how care is delivered, documented, and connected. By replacing legacy systems with an integrated digital platform, clinicians now have improved access to real‑time patient information, supporting safer care, stronger clinical decision‑making, and more seamless coordination across sites and teams.

Throughout 2025, focus has shifted from implementation to optimization. Niagara Health teams have continued to refine workflows, strengthen data quality, and support staff through ongoing training and engagement. These efforts are helping to embed the system into daily practice, enhance clinician confidence, and unlock the full potential of digital tools to support patient care.
