Annual Report 2025–2026

A year of Transforming Care

Explore the moments, milestones and people shaping hospital care across Niagara Health.

A message from our President and CEO and Board Chair

At Niagara Health, every decision we make begins with people.

This year, we made steady progress on the priorities that matter most — improving access to care, supporting our teams and strengthening how the system works across Niagara. Our Strategic Plan PDF, opens in new tab continues to guide that work, with a clear focus on quality, safety and patient experience.

Like hospitals across Ontario, we are managing rising demand, workforce pressures and more complex patient needs. Those pressures are not new, but they are shaping how care is delivered. Our response has been to focus on flow, reduce unnecessary hospital stays and ensure patients receive care in the right place.

We reached several important milestones.

Construction of the South Niagara Hospital continued to advance. Work in Welland moved forward. Across our sites, teams introduced new approaches to improve patient flow and access to services. We invested in new CT scanners and radiation treatment equipment, and continued upgrades to our Hospital Information System to better support patients and care teams.

None of this happens without our people.

Every day, our physicians, staff, volunteers and partners deliver care with skill and compassion. That includes care in our Emergency Departments, services through Niagara Health at Home, and work to advance health equity and strengthen Indigenous partnerships.

We are also seeing stronger collaboration across the region.

Healthcare does not work in silos. Progress depends on close partnerships with municipalities, community agencies, primary care, educators and donors. These relationships are helping us build a more connected system that better meets the needs of patients and families.

Looking ahead, our focus remains practical.

This transformation is not about buildings alone. It is about access to care, shorter waits, smoother transitions and better support for patients and teams. The goal is consistent, high-quality care close to home.

We are grateful to our staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, donors and partners for their work over the past year. Most of all, we thank the people of Niagara for their trust.

Warm regards,
