Niagara Health's Wound Care Program (Tissue Viability)

The Tissue Viability Nurse, with training in advanced wound care, provides clinical consultation in wound and skin management at all sites for inpatients of all ages. Working closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and our community partners, such as CCAC and community nursing agencies, the nurse promotes and facilitates a best practice approach to wound and skin management that is client-centred and evidence-based.

The interdisciplinary healthcare team, along with the advanced wound care nurse, provides assessment, treatment and education for patients that have post-operative wound complications, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, stoma complications and negative pressure therapy.
