Stroke Prevention –
Taking Steps to a Healthier You

Tuesday, March 4, 2008, 6 p.m.

The following Niagara Health System programs – Stroke Prevention Program, Niagara Diabetes Centre, Heart Function Clinic, and Cardiovascular Health & Rehabilitation Program – are pleased to present Stroke Prevention – Taking Steps to a Healthier You. The public is invited to this free Community Health Forum with Guest Speaker Dr. Robert Ross, PhD, Professor and Director of the Centre for Obesity Research and Education, Kingston. The session takes place Tues., Mar. 4, 6 p.m. at Heidehof, 600 Lake St., St. Catharines.

  • Dr. Ross will highlight lifestyle strategies to reduce the risk for heart disease, stroke and diabetes
  • Free blood pressure check and blood sugar test
  • Ask questions to a pharmacist, nurses and dietitians
  • Light refreshments will be served

"We are encouraging people of all ages and health conditions to come and learn more about how they can prevent heart disease, stroke and diabetes," says Connie McCallum, Nurse Practitioner, Stroke Prevention Clinic. "After the speaker session, we will have stations set up so visitors can speak to our health care professionals one-to-one. The health-check stations are a unique way to personalize the evening to suit the specific needs of those attending."
