Water main replacement at St. Catharines General Site

Posted Jul 9th, 2010

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Starting Mon., July 12, work will begin to replace two water mains behind St. Catharines General Site on Valleyview and Oakdale streets. As well, three abandoned water mains off Queenston Street will be capped. Total construction time is expected to take six weeks, with completion expected by mid-August. There will be no disruption of water supply to the main hospital building during this time.

There will be some minor restrictions in parking availability for the next few weeks, mainly in the parking lot behind the main building. As well, vehicle traffic will be one lane only at times through the back parking lot, with a flag person in place for traffic flow. Patients and visitors may wish to use the Oakdale Drive entrance to the main parking lot to avoid congestion at the Queenston Street entrance.

The changes are necessary to replace piping and install backflow prevention devices, as required by the City.
