Posted Jul 30th, 2010

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Those unused items taking up space around the house can have a new home. Niagara Health System nurses are asking for donations of gently used items for their upcoming charity garage sale.

Help Niagara’s nurses raise $20,000 to build a health clinic in Kenya by donating items for a Giant Garage Sale and BBQ on Sunday, August 22, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Royal LePage Plaza beside McDonalds on Niagara Street, Welland.

Donations will be gratefully received at the administration office of any Niagara Health System hospital site across Niagara – in Fort Erie, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls, Port Colborne, St. Catharines and Welland. Items needed include furniture, bedding and linens, baby items and toys, small appliances, garden tools, jewelry, sports and camping equipment, clothing, etc.

Larger items will be picked up. Call the NHS International Year of the Nurse Committee at 905-378-4647, ext. 33000 (messages will be returned). Items will also be accepted the morning of the sale.

Funds raised will be used to send Niagara youth to help build a health clinic in Kenya in partnership with international child rights and relief agency Free the Children.
