As part of the design development process PCL constructed mock-ups of six key recurring spaces to maximize efficiency of the design with a focus on clinical space. Each mock-up is a full-size structural model made with the exact construction techniques and materials being used on the project.
Spaces at the offsite mock-up located on Commerce Place include a private inpatient room, typical ICU room, chemotherapy infusion bay, emergency treatment bay, exam/consult room and a typical corridor.

While tours of the construction site are very limited and currently provided to staff based on the schedule of areas with completed finishes, the project management team has full access to the offsite mock-up location. We welcome staff and the community to book a presentation/visit to the mock-up site and experience the look, feel and function of our new hospital.
