The inpatient experience at our new St. Catharines Site

Posted Jun 20th, 2012

Members of the media are invited to attend a tour of a typical inpatient unit at the new St. Catharines Site.

 Join Regional Chief of Medicine Dr. Terence Chan, Manager of Operational Readiness Vicky Merchant Miller and RN Kristina Fast to learn how the new hospital will enable us to provide care in new ways; setting a standard for the way hospitals are being designed throughout the province.

 Features:

  • Accessing the inpatient care areas;
  • Caring for patients who require the use of an inpatient hospital bed;
  • Benefits and usage of 80 per cent private rooms;
  • Positive outcomes related to access to natural light;
  • Effective design of a patient-client-centred care environment.

 With 159 days left in the construction schedule, the building is looking more like a hospital with each day that passes and is on budget and on schedule at over 90% completion. The design of this world-class facility took the strengths of local knowledge from our clinicians and global expertise of our architects to create a building focused on the patient experience and outcome.
