New hospital tour in two minutes!

Posted Aug 1st, 2012

Last week we invited board and staff members of the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network (HNHB LHIN) to tour our new hospital and Walker Family Cancer Centre. The tour was captured in a short two-minute video.

The LHIN plans, funds, and integrates the local health system with the goal of providing appropriate, coordinated, effective, and efficient health services to the more than 1.4 million residents in Brant, Burlington, Haldimand, Hamilton, Niagara, and Norfolk.

Why you should watch this video:

  • Get a quick tour of our new St. Catharines Site in two minutes
  • Get an update on development and what we’re doing to turn the building into a hospital
  • Hear what the LHIN had to say about our impressive, state-of-the-art facility.

What people are saying…

“The site is extremely impressive. It’s beautiful, new, welcoming, and obviously very patient centred.

A lot of thought and effort has gone into the design and I think it’s going to be amazing not only for the people of St. Catharines, but certainly for all of the people in the Niagara Region and the HNHB LHIN catchment area.

I’m also looking forward to the Walker Family Cancer Centre being opened, and the partnership with Hamilton Health Sciences’ Juravinski Cancer Centre which will provide great care for all people within our LHIN area.”

- LHIN Board Chair Mike Shea

Niagara’s New Hospital Town Hall Meeting – July 12, 2012

Countdown to turning the building into a hospital

With 116 days left in the construction schedule, and 235 days until the New St. Catharines Site opens, the building is looking more like a hospital with each day that passes. On budget, on schedule and over 93% complete, the design of this world-class facility took the strengths of local knowledge from our clinicians and global expertise of our architects to create a building that is focused on the patient experience.

Although the exterior of the structure looks complete, it is still just a building; construction will be completed on November 26, 2012. The period between then and “go live” on March 24, 2013 will be used to train and orient staff to the site and also welcome community members to tour their new hospital before we open to provide patient care.

Please join us in achieving the goal of providing one million square feet of care
