Buffalo Sabres visit patients in NHS Children's Health Unit

Posted Sep 8th, 2015

The Niagara Health System was thrilled to welcome members of the Buffalo Sabres to our St. Catharines Site on Tuesday.

Sabres players Nic Deslauriers and Mark Pysyk and team mascot, Sabretooth, visited patients in our Children’s Health Unit Tuesday morning.

“It’s obviously tough seeing kids who are feeling a little bit down, but it’s a lot fun to come out and see them and hopefully get their mind off things for the time we spend with each one of them,” said Mr. Pysyk, a defenceman with the Sabres. “It makes you realize how lucky you are. It makes my day to see the kids smile.”

The tour was led by Lori Marino, a Child Life Specialist on the unit.

“We’re so thankful to the Sabres for visiting our patients again this year,” says Mrs. Marino. “It was great to see the smiles that they brought to the children’s faces.”
