Annual healthcare event to explore quality improvement innovations

Posted Apr 2nd, 2016

Brock University, McMaster University and Niagara Health System are working together to improve healthcare in the region through collaborative quality improvement projects. The results of this unique partnership will be on display at the Health Quality Symposium Wednesday, April 6 at Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls.

The fourth annual Health Quality Symposium will highlight the patient experience along with quality improvement projects and outcomes resulting from the Interprofessional Education for Quality Improvement Program, better known as I-EQUIP.

The I-EQUIP projects function as an extension of the classroom, providing an opportunity for students from Brock and McMaster’s School of Medicine – Niagara campus, as well as leaders and front-line staff from Niagara Health System to work together on a variety of quality initiatives that improve patient care.

These projects range from improving patient safety and streamlining care through design and implementation to developing an intervention to treat poverty via primary care practices.

The Symposium will feature two patient experience stories, 16 workshops and two keynote addresses on health-related research and quality improvement through practice.
