We are advising the public that all elective surgeries have been postponed at this time at our Welland Site because of an issue with the emergency backup generator at the hospital. Patients at the Welland Site who require emergency surgery are being assessed and, if needed, will be taken to our St. Catharines and Niagara Falls sites.
We are taking these measures to ensure patient safety, which is our highest priority. Our team is working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue, which is expected to be completed later today.
All other services at the hospital are fully operational and patient safety is not impacted.
