COVID-19 outbreak ends on Unit 4A at St. Catharines Site

A COVID-19 outbreak on Unit 4A at Niagara Health’s St. Catharines Site has been resolved.

The outbreak came to an end today after 14 days of enhanced monitoring showed there had been no evidence of further transmission.

Thank you to our team for implementing and consistently practising infection prevention and control measures, allowing us to safely resolve this outbreak.

The outbreak was declared on Dec. 31 after two healthcare workers tested positive for COVID-19. Unit 4A is the St. Catharines Site’s designated COVID-19 unit and has remained open to admissions of COVID-positive patients.

COVID-19 outbreaks reinforce the highly infectious nature of the virus and the need for vigilance with public health measures, including physical distancing, proper and consistent mask usage, and regular hand washing.
