Black History Month at Niagara Health

February is Black History Month – a month-long recognition at Niagara Health.

This year’s theme is Ours to Tell, which focuses on recognizing the legacy of success, sacrifice and resilience attributed to members of the Black community.

As a part of our commitment to building a safe, diverse and inclusive environment, our teams are dedicating this month to learning more about the transformative work and achievements of Black individuals and how they continue to shape history.

At Niagara Health, we acknowledge the ongoing systemic racism and oppression faced by members of the Black community, and we reaffirm our organizational promise to be continually guided by our values of compassion and a respectful culture.

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee has organized several initiatives to highlight the achievements of our team members and beyond, as well as providing opportunities for education and access to resources.

While we reflect on the many significant contributions of the Black community, it’s also an opportunity to recognize the important work ahead to build a better, more inclusive community.
