NIAGARA, ON:  The Niagara Health System (NHS) is committed to providing the best possible health care to the Niagara Region under the plan approved by the Local Health Integration Network.  We understand that members of the community feel passionately about the NHS sites, and we are always ready to engage in constructive discussion and dialogue with them. However, the NHS cannot, and will not, condone any breach of the law.  NHS sites are private property and only staff, physicians, patients and their families and others with permission will be granted access.

The NHS strongly condemns the recent acts of vandalism and trespass that have occurred on NHS property.  These incidents are under investigation by the Niagara Regional Police, and the NHS will continue to cooperate with the police to prevent the repeat of such actions in the future.  The NHS will not tolerate any danger to public safety, including the health, security and privacy of its staff, physicians, patients and their families.

The NHS has a duty to maintain the security and safety of all NHS facilities.  The NHS is fully prepared to exercise all of the legal remedies available to it against those who irresponsibly threaten, and seek to carry out, future infringements of the law and NHS policies.
