Niagara Health officially welcomes new President, Lynn Guerriero Santé Niagara accueille officiellement sa nouvelle présidente, Lynn Guerriero

Niagara Health is welcoming our new president, Lynn Guerriero, to her role today. Ms. Guerriero will play a critical role in helping us achieve our purpose of extraordinary caring to every person, every time.

“I’m excited to join Niagara Health, which has such dedicated staff, physicians, learners, volunteers, and board members,” said Ms. Guerriero. “Niagara Health has a bright future ahead of it and it’s because of our people. As I learn more about the organization, I’m very impressed by the professionalism, care, and compassion of everyone here."

“Lynn is strongly committed to providing patients and families with extraordinary caring in every aspect of their experience. With her passion and deep understanding of healthcare, she was the unanimous choice of the selection committee and is an outstanding executive leader who will be a positive presence at Niagara Health,” said Mr. John Bragagnolo, Chair of the Board of Directors at Niagara Health.

Ms. Guerriero comes to Niagara with over 30 years of leadership, management and clinical experience. Most recently, she served as an Assistant Deputy Minister with the Ontario Ministry of Health (Ontario Health Insurance Plan Division) and managed a $14-billion portfolio. In that role, she was accountable for advising senior government officials, managing complex files and relationships, implementing new policy and programs, and ensuring operational excellence within her areas of responsibility.

While serving as Assistant Deputy Minister, Ms. Guerriero acted as the Executive Lead, Agency Review, for the Ministry of Health. Notable highlights include securing policy approval for the new provincial agency structure that resulted in the creation of Ontario Health and supporting drafting of legislation for Bill 74, The People’s Health Care Act, 2019.

Dr. Tom Stewart, CEO of Niagara Health, said Ms. Guerriero is well poised to lead Niagara Health in the next stage of its evolution. “There has been a lot of positive change at Niagara Health over the last several years. I know Lynn is eager to build on this momentum by working with all healthcare stakeholders in Niagara to support high-quality, safe care, improve access to services and create a better-connected healthcare system. We’re so happy to have her join us at this important time in the journey towards creating a healthier Niagara.

Ms. Guerriero said her priority over the coming weeks will be to get out to the various sites to meet and learn from everyone at Niagara Health: “There is a wealth of great people here with great ideas on how we can best move forward together. The work that’s been done to this point has created a tremendous foundation for continued growth and development. I’m looking forward to building on Niagara Health’s many strengths as we work together to enhance healthcare services in the region.”
