I am writing to provide an update on our work to support the team at Millennium Trail Manor in Niagara Falls, which has been working diligently to control an outbreak of COVID-19 at the home. The provincial government has asked that we assist their efforts and has issued a Mandatory Management Order for Niagara Health to manage the home.
I had an opportunity to visit the home this morning and meet with staff. The Millennium team has been working incredibly hard and is doing their best to maintain a safe environment. By working collaboratively, I’m confident we’ll be able to end this outbreak as quickly and safely as possible.
Our Hospital Response Team was on-site throughout the day conducting a thorough assessment of the home. Some of the areas examined include:
- Infection Prevention and Control
- Environmental services and housekeeping for ongoing deep cleaning
- Proper use and availability of PPE
- COVID testing of residents and staff where appropriate
The results of this assessment will inform the action that we will work to develop and implement in collaboration with Millennium Trail Manor staff.
