Niagara Health has once again been named one of Canada’s Best Employers, according to Forbes and Statista.
This is the second year in a row that Niagara Health has earned a spot on a Forbes-Statista list. Last July, the organization ranked on the Best Employers for Company Culture list.
The recognition reinforces Niagara Health’s reputation as an employer that values its people and is committed to fostering a workplace that supports inclusion, innovation and professional growth.
“Being named one of Canada’s Best Employers is an incredible honour,” says Paula Matkowski, Niagara Health’s Director of People Services. “Every day, the people at Niagara Health bring their best to deliver care for our community at their time of need. Their passion and commitment help build a workplace where colleagues support one another other while fostering an environment focused on quality care for patients and families.
“They are the reason we continue to evolve in meaningful ways, innovate and achieve excellence,” she adds. “This recognition is a proud moment for Niagara Health and a tribute to our people, the heart of our organization."
Canada’s Best Employers rankings are determined through an independent survey of more than 37,000 employees working for organizations with at least 500 employees. The survey measures employee recommendations and workplace satisfaction, with feedback compared to indirect evaluation of other employers within the same field.
Over the past year, Niagara Health physicians and staff have shared what they value most about working here:
Jessica Mottola, South Niagara Hospital Project Co-ordinator
“I’ve been given the chance to bring my experience to this role but also learn from it and grow. Being part of a project of this scale is incredibly rewarding, and I feel so fortunate to contribute to something that will have such a lasting impact on our community.”

Dr. Franziska Miller, Anesthesiologist
“I loved being here as a medical student. The region is beautiful, the people are so friendly and the nature is incredible here. The hospital is also big enough but small enough to have community. That was really important to me – to have a community with the people I work with.”
Dr. Don DuVall, Chief of Anesthesia
“We’ve built a team-oriented environment that values flexibility, fairness and support — and that’s helped us stand out in a very competitive space.”

Dr. Anhar Alhussaini, Cardiologist
“A colleague of mine recommended Niagara Health for its blend of community practice and academic opportunities. I was drawn to the idea of building a unique practice while advancing my career. After researching Niagara Health’s values and meeting with Cardiology Head of Service, Dr. Adnan Hameed, it became clear that my values aligned with the organizational culture. The collegiality in the department was apparent from the start and I appreciate the supportive and collaborative environment here.”
With more than 7,500 team members, Niagara Health remains committed to providing the resources, support and opportunities staff and physicians need to grow and succeed.
Niagara Health invites passionate professionals looking to make a difference to explore current opportunities and join a team that’s shaping the future of healthcare, together.
