Niagara Health marks a year of progress in transforming care with release of 2025–2026 Annual Report

Posted Jun 24th, 2026

Niagara Health has released its 2025–2026 Annual Report, A Year of Transforming Care, highlighting advances in access to care, major system projects and partnerships across the region.

“At Niagara Health, every decision we make begins with people,” says Lynn Guerriero, President and CEO. “This was a year of real progress in improving access to care and strengthening the patient experience. Our teams are focused on making the system work better for patients and families across Niagara.”

Over the past year, Niagara Health advanced priorities focused on quality, safety and patient experience.

Key highlights include:
  • Continued construction on the South Niagara Hospital, including a major beam-signing milestone
  • Advancements in the Welland Hospital renovation project
  • New CT scanners and upgraded radiation treatment technology, improving diagnostic and cancer care
  • National recognition for stroke care excellence at Niagara Falls Hospital

Teams across the organization introduced new approaches to improve patient flow and reduce wait times, helping ensure patients receive care in the right place.

Niagara Health also reported measurable gains in patient experience, including improved patient satisfaction, increased involvement in care decisions and more than 1,800 compliments recognizing staff, physicians and volunteers — more than double the previous year.

“We are seeing change in the areas that matter most — improved flow in our Emergency Departments, growing research that brings new opportunities to patients and continued momentum toward a three-site hospital model,” Guerriero says. “Together, these changes are improving access to care and how patients move through the system across Niagara.”

Innovation and collaboration also advanced. The Niagara Health Knowledge Institute expanded clinical research, providing patients with access to new treatments closer to home. Programs supporting care at home and in the community continued to grow, alongside partnerships across the Niagara Ontario Health Team and with local organizations.

Niagara Health will continue to focus on improvements to care delivery, including shorter wait times, smoother transitions and improved access across the region.

“This report reflects the work of our teams across every part of Niagara Health,” Guerriero says. “Their focus on patients and families is what continues to drive improvements in care and experience.”
