Thank you to our team for working tirelessly to bring this outbreak to a successful end.
We’re recruiting for a variety of healthcare positions at all of our hospital sites across Niagara.
Thank you to our dedicated teams for implementing and consistently practicing infection prevention and control measures, allowing us to safely resolve this outbreak.
We have received provincial direction that, effective immediately, all first doses of vaccine are to be used to vaccinate residents, staff and essential caregivers in long-term care and high-risk retirement homes.
Following extensive mandatory and elective due diligence, Niagara Health will be commissioning the removal of the woodlot thicket, located on the southeast portion of the South Niagara Site, to make way for future construction of the new hospital. In preparation of the thicket removal, Niagara Health has partnered with local community members to recycle and preserve the site’s natural elements.
Niagara Health today declared outbreaks of COVID-19 on two medical units – the Sixth Floor Unit at the Welland Site and Unit 2A at the St. Catharines Site.
Today, Niagara Health (NH) and Niagara Region Public Health and Emergency Services (NRPH&ES) administered the first 322 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in the region.
The region’s first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine arrived in St. Catharines on Tuesday, January 12.
The arrival of the Pfizer vaccine is a turning point in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Niagara. We expect delivery of the Pfizer vaccine in Niagara on Tuesday or Wednesday, and we are prepared to get doses into arms as soon as the shipment arrives.
The Emergency Department remains open and safe for members of the public seeking care.
