For the second consecutive year, Niagara Health has been recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Best Employers for Company Culture. The organization ranked No. 9, skyrocketing from its ranking of No. 108 in 2025. Earlier this year, Forbes also recognized Niagara Health as a top Canadian employer.

“This recognition from Forbes is extremely meaningful and is a reflection that Niagara Health is an exceptional place to work,” says Lynn Guerriero, President and CEO. “Our people are at the centre of every improvement we are making, from workforce supports to how we redesign care across the region. As we build for the future, including the South Niagara Hospital and our transition to a three-site model, we are designing spaces and systems around our staff and patients.”

Fiona Peacefull, Executive Vice-President of Human Resources, notes the ranking is a collective effort of the teams and culture at Niagara Health.

“We’re committed to focusing on the work ahead, and this recognition reinforces that we are moving in the right direction,” says Peacefull. “Supporting our people is essential to improving patient care across Niagara. We are intentional about building an environment where people feel supported, respected and able to grow.”

Presented by Forbes in partnership with Statista, the recognition is based on a survey of more than 37,000 Canadian-based employees at companies with at least 500 people in the country.

“We’re committed to focusing on the work ahead, and this recognition reinforces that we are moving in the right direction. We are intentional about building an environment where people feel supported, respected and able to grow.”

Survey respondents (who remain anonymous) were asked if they would recommend their employer to others and to rate it in a variety of areas related to company culture, including fairness, inclusivity and opportunity.

"There's not a lot of places, especially an organization as large as ours, where you feel that people are readily accessible to you and are willing to carve out that time in such a fast-paced environment.”

Kayleigh Tyrer, Manager, Clinical Services, Withdrawal Management Services, told Forbes that Niagara Health “really demonstrates how committed they are to trying to grow their own talent and to help people succeed. There's not a lot of places, especially an organization as large as ours, where you feel that people are readily accessible to you and are willing to carve out that time in such a fast-paced environment.”

This is what some of our team members have said about working at Niagara Health:

Dr. Riviere.

Lauren Oreskovich.

Dr. Caetano.

“Niagara Health is a great size and a great place to work,” says Dr. Raphaël Rivière. “It’s not overly congested, but it isn’t so small that you feel isolated or lack support. It’s the perfect place. We have some of the best anesthesiologists and anesthesia assistants, operating room and recovery nurses, and an overall very skilled and collaborative team. I love coming to work.”

“It was my goal to work here,” says Lauren Oreskovich, Nurse Practitioner. “It all worked out perfectly. I’m so grateful to be in the role I’m in and that my learning has been supported, and I can make a difference in people’s lives.”

“What I enjoy most is the sense of collaboration and shared purpose,” says Dr. Helen Caetano, Chief of Surgery. “From nurses and anesthesiologists to support staff and fellow surgeons, there is a strong culture of mutual respect. I appreciate being part of an organization that is evolving — expanding services, modernizing facilities and striving to meet the needs of a growing population.”
