Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Niagara Health

What to expect when visiting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

During your newborn's stay in the NICU, your baby will have their own private room equipped with all necessary supplies, as well as a bed for parents/caregivers. Each room has sliding glass doors so that staff can always see that your baby is safe in their room. Your baby will be on continuous monitors so that staff can always see their vitals and activity. These monitors are also available for staff to view at each nursing station. We have a large interdisciplinary team that will be caring for your baby, and we want you to be involved. We encourage you to stay for the duration of your babies NICU admission to promote bonding and involvement in care planning. We are a highly specialized unit that provides intensive care for a variety of neonatal health conditions.
