Niagara Health Volunteers

Volunteering at Niagara Health

We believe every person in our region deserves to live every day of their life in the best health possible.

Niagara Health is dedicated to serving our patients, families and communities with the best care experience possible and we could not do this without our volunteers!

We appreciate the willingness of our volunteers to enhance our patent experience and support our purpose of Extraordinary Caring - Every Patient, Every Time. We are truly grateful for the dedication, care and kindness of our volunteers who are committed to providing a meaningful and positive contribution to our team.

Every patient who walks through our doors carries a story, a worry, a hope. As a volunteer you become part of that story. Healing goes beyond medicine. It lives in compassion, connection and the small acts volunteers do that remind patients and families they are not alone. Whether it’s a smile, a helping hand during a difficult moment, walking with someone to their appointment, volunteers transform the patient experience in meaningful ways, brining empathy and humanity into every interaction.

At Niagara Health, Patient Experience is defined as: “How the process of receiving care feels and is shaped by all interactions across the care journey. It is about being known, respected, listened to, involved, supported and provided with the best care”.

Our hospitals are more than a place of care – they are communities. Volunteers are at the heart of our communities, supporting our teams, helping to create an environment where patients feel seen heard and valued.

The care and kindness volunteers bring help us to create a positive experience for the patients, families and visitors we are privileged to serve.

Volunteers have the opportunity to:

  • Share skills and abilities
  • Support a cause they believe in
  • Give back to the community

Benefits of being a volunteer:

  • Meet new people and be part of a community
  • Gain knowledge, new skills and valuable experience in a healthcare environment
  • Make a difference in peoples' lives

Creating a healthier Niagara is a collaborative effort and underscores the importance of our ongoing work with patients, families and our community partners to improve the health and well-being of our region. We know that the most advanced equipment in the world isn’t enough, it takes more to put a smile on a lonely face or warm the spirit of someone fighting overwhelming odds. It takes a personal and genuine commitment to caring, a true belief that we can really make a difference in people’s lives.

Extraordinary Caring. Every Person. Every Time. That’s exactly what we’re working so hard to do.
