How do I apply for a job with Niagara Health?

All internal and external positions at  Niagara Health are available online via eRecruit. Click on the Apply Online button to register, search, and apply for vacancies.

There are several benefits to applying online:

  • It's quick, simple and easy to use – you can apply from any location at any time.
  • You can create and manage your own secure, online personal profile and store your résumé, cover letter, and other documents.
  • You will receive electronic confirmation that your application has been received and keep a central record of all the positions you have applied for.

Current Niagara Health employees:
To be eligible for internal positions, you must currently work for Niagara Health. Please include your employee name and employee number as seen on your pay stub when registering.

Other Candidates:
External positions are open to the general public.

How do I apply online with eRecruit?

My contact information has changed since I sent my application, what do I do?

  • Proceed to eRecruit
  • Sign-in to your account
  • Go to ‘My Details’
  • Select the posting you applied for
  • Click ‘Update Résumé’ located in the top right

I am Bilingual (English/French) does Niagara Health (NH) consider this as an asset

Absolutely, at Niagara we adhere to the French Language Services act and encourage candidates to apply that are bilingual specifically for our Welland and Port Colborne sites as they have been identified as French Language community hospitals.

Can I apply to more than one position at a time?

Yes, you are welcome to apply for all positions that match your qualifications.

What time does a job posting close on the closing date?

All career opportunities close at midnight on the closing date. To avoid missing out on any opportunity, do not wait until midnight of the closing day to apply.

Who do I contact if I need help?

How do I know if my online employment application was received?

You will receive a confirmation e-mail from Niagara Health indicating that your application has been successfully submitted (Please check your spam account if you do not see this confirmation in your main mailbox.). You can also view the vacancies you have applied for under ‘My Applications’ in eRecruit.

What do I do if I forget my password?

When attempting to login to your account, click the ‘forgot password’ link and it will prompt you to enter your e-mail address. You will be asked to answer the security question that you set up when you registered. A temporary password will be sent to the e-mail address you provided. Once you have logged in, you may change your password by clicking ‘change password’ in the top right corner of eRecruit.

I was recently hired by Niagara Health and cannot see internal vacancies in eRecruitHow do I fix this?

  • Please proceed to eRecruit;
  • Sign in to your account;
  • Go to ‘My Details’ on the top tool bar;
  • Click ‘Edit my details’
  • Change your answer to ‘Yes’ to the “are you a currently employed by Niagara Health?” question
  • Enter your employee number
  • Click ‘update my details’ and log out of eRecruit

The next time you log in, you will be able to see all internal vacancies.

What is ‘job basket’?

The job basket is a way to save the job postings you are interesting in applying to in the future. When you view a job posting that interests you, click the vacancy to view the job details and then click ‘save to job basket’. Under the ‘job basket tab’ in the top tool bar, you may view all your saved job postings and apply.

How do I find out if a position has been filled?

Current Niagara Health employees:

Other candidates:

Will you update me on the status of my application?

Only candidates under consideration will be contacted.

How long is the selection process?

If you have not received a response from us within two to four weeks after the job posting closes, you should assume that there were candidates whose qualifications more closely match the requirements of the posting.

Am I able to fax, e-mail or drop-off my résumé?

We encourage all candidates to apply online and complete the attached mandatory questionnaire for each position. Using our online application allows us to easily forward your application/résumé to our recruitment specialists within the organization.

I do not see the job opportunity that I am looking for on your website. Who can I sent my résumé to?

If you do not see the job opportunity you are looking for, keep checking our current job postings on a regular basis or visit our “Future Opportunities” section. Job postings are updated daily, when your ideal position becomes available, you can apply online.

Do you hire summer students?

Hiring for summer positions is based on the needs of the specific units/departments. Requests for students are received by the Human Resources Department and then advertised through our local universities and colleges.

What is the hiring process?

Various steps are taken in our recruitment process to help identify the right area for you.

Personal interview(s)

Personal interviews will take place with the interview team. One or more interviews may occur with a panel of interviewers.

Work Related References

References are conducted prior to a job offer being made. We ask your permission to talk with three managerial or supervisory references from your current and previous employers who can provide us with work-related references. A section on the external application outlines the information needed and an area for your signature authorization for NH to complete the reference check.

Police Record Check

As part of our hiring process all new staff must complete a Criminal Record Check or Clearance Certificate. The fee for this is paid for by the candidate and is not reimbursed by Niagara Health.
